No pudo ser mejor el arranque de la Vuelta a España para el genial escarabajo colombiano Nairo Quintana con la victoria del Movistar en la Contrarreloj por Equipos sobre 12.6 kilómetros que abrió la ronda ibérica este sábado en Jerez de la Frontera. La escuadra telefónica se impuso sobre el Cannondale y el Orica -del también colombiano Esteban Chaves- para darle un perfecto inicio a las aspiraciones del boyacense de conseguir el título de la última grande la temporada.

Con autoridad, el equipo español Movistar ganó la contrarreloj por equipos que dio apertura este sábado a la 69 Vuelta a España al acreditar 14 minutos 13 segundos, gracias a un espectacular remate en la segunda parte del tramo, pero, en especial, en los dos últimos kms, en los que recuperó los 5 segundos que perdía con el conjunto italiano Cannondale.

Movistar, último de los 22 elencos en salir a la 1:27 p.m., horario nacional, tuvo un paso redondo y contó en todo el trayecto con el trabajo de sus nueve hombres, entre ellos, el colombiano Nairo Quintana, quien varias veces tomó la delantera, que se iban rotando, cada 200 metros, para evitar fatigas pues el ejercicio al cronómetro lo hicieron a fondo, a sabiendas que las diferencias contaban para la clasificación general.

De entrada, la formación telefónica ratifica el favoritismo del cual salió precedido para que uno (o dos) de sus integrantes suban al escaño más alto del podio. A los dos, se les vio con el característico liderazgo que ya los identifica, el boyacense Quintana y el español Alejandro Valverde, segundo en la jornada, por detrás de su compatriota Jonathan Castroviejo, quien al encabezar las filas de su equipo se convirtió en el primer líder.

“Ha sido un buen comienzo, pese a que no queríamos correr riesgos por la cantidad de rotondas que había, pero también es cierto que lo hubiéramos podido hacer a ciegas (el recorrido) porque lo conocemos muy bien. Estuvimos a tope desde el principio, era ir a todo. Queda un montón de vuelta, pero había que empezar con pie derecho, con segundos con delante, que no por detrás. Es una motivación para todo el equipo” señaló el costarricense Andrey Amador.

Movistar le sacó seis segundos a un Cannondale, brillantemente liderado por el eslovaco Peter Sagan, que dominó durante gran parte de la etapa, pero el ritmo del conjunto español dejó con las manos vacías al plantel italiano, que por milésimas superó al elenco australiano Orica GreenEDGE, del novato colombiano Esteban Chaves, quien igualmente se estrenó con pie derecho en una de las tres grandes vueltas de planeta.

La divisa estadounidense Trek Factory Racing también salió bien librado al ser cuarto (14.22 minutos) gracias al buen trabajo del suizo Fabian Cancellara, y con la decidida ayuda del colombiano Julián Arredondo. El Top 5 lo cerró la formación belga del Omega Pharma–Quick Step (14.24 minutos) con el antioqueño Rigoberto Urán al frente, mostrando igualmente ambición y hambre de título. El Tinkoff de Contador fue séptimo a 19 segundos mientras el Sky de Froome dio la sorpresa de la jornada al quedar por fuera del Top 10 perdiendo casi medio minuto con el escuadrón azul del flamante campeón del Giro de Italia.

Este domingo se corre la primera fracción en línea de la ronda ibérica, con salida inédita en Algeciras y final sin precedentes en San Fernando,  luego de 174.4 kms., con un pequeño repecho en el Alto del Cabrito, a los 11 kms de carrera. Día para el lucimiento de los rematadores, como el citado Sagan, el alemán Gerald Ciolek, el italiano Andrea Guardini o el francés Nacer Bouhanni.
