Una vibrante batalla se vivió en la capital del Casanare en el prólogo de la Vuelta de la Juventud 2024, donde Jefferson Ruiz salió victorioso, tras ser el más rápido de la contrarreloj individual de 7 kilómetros.
El corredor del GW Erco Shimano completó el trayecto en 8:09″, siete segundos más veloz que su compañero de equipo Brandon Vega. Tercero concluyó Johan Porras (Avinal-Alcaldía El Carmen de Viboral).
“Una prueba muy explosiva, estamos contentos por el resultado. Pensamos que iba a ser un poco más complicada por la lluvia, pero lo pudimos sortear de la mejor manera”, dijo Ruiz, en declaraciones recogidas por su equipo.

Bajo la tarde nublada se dio comienzo a la jornada al cronómetro, donde Santiago Osorio (Equipo Mixto) fue el primer ciclista en tomar la partida, registrando un tiempo de 9:18, sin embargo, su tiempo no fue el mejor. Poco a poco fueron arribando a la meta los corredores, entre ellos los grandes favoritos.
La Vuelta de la Juventud continuará este martes con una etapa ondulada entre los municipios de Pore y Aguazul, que tendrá un recorrido de 137,4 kilómetros.

Luego de correr en Jamaica, Estados Unidos será el siguiente destino del Team Medellín-EPM en donde participará en el Tour de Gila 2024. La formación de la capital antioqueña utilizará lo mejor de su nómina en este nuevo desafío internacional, que arranca el miércoles 24 de abril y termina el domingo 28 de abril.
El equipo continental colombiano, tercero del ranking UCI de América viajó a territorio norteamericano con Fabio Duarte, Róbigzon Oyola, Walter Vargas, Brayan Sánchez, Wilmar Paredes y Óscar Sevilla, quien reaparece tras su accidente en el Tour Colombia. El español cuenta con dos podios en esta prestigiosa carrera.

La escuadra antioqueña dirigida por José Julián Velásquez tiene como misión seguir obteniendo puntos que le permitan alcanzar el liderato del ranking por equipos del UCI América Tour. Luego afrontará la Vuelta Bantrab en Guatemala y el Gran Premio New York City, en Estados Unidos.
La carrera estadounidense tendrá cinco etapas, la primera de ellas con un total de 148 kilómetros, la segunda de 120,7 kilómetros, el tercer parcial una contrarreloj de 26 kilómetros, la cuarta al estilo critérium de 69,5 kilómetros y para finalizar la etapa reina de 161,9 kilómetros.
