Tour de California: Peter Sagan dio el campanazo y asume el liderato de la carrera estadounidense. Fabio Duarte entra en la primera gran selección (VIDEO)

El corredor Peter Sagan (Liquigas) se ha adjudicado este domingo la primera etapa del Tour de California convirtiéndose de esta manera en el primer líder de la competencia que se viene disputando en territorio americano.

El eslovaco invirtió un tiempo de 4 horas, 42 minutos y 35 segundos para cubrir los 186,5 kilómetros en una jornada que se disputó con salida y llegada en San Rosa y donde el bogotano Fred Rodríguez (Team Exergy) fue el mejor ciclista nacional en la tercera posición por detrás de Heinrich Haussler (Garmin-Barracuda), quienes acompañaron a Sagan en el podio final.

Las bonificaciones de la fracción otorgan a Sagan 4 y 6 segundos de ventaja sobre Haussler y Rodríguez en la clasificación general de la prueba

Los 186 kilómetros recorridos en la primera jornada del Tour de California, dejaron en forma inesperada una reducida  selección de corredores que aspiran a disputar el título final, así la victoria haya correspondido al propio Sagan, quien superó un malhadado pinchazo a 7 kilómetros de la llegada y alcanzó a entrar en el grupo de unos 60 corredores que disputaron la primera victoria parcial en Santa Rosa.

La prueba tuvo un excelente clima y la infaltable fuga del día que llegó a tener más de 6 minutos en su favor y finalmente se redujo a tres corredores: Máxim Bouet del AG2r, Ben Jacques Maines del Bisell y Jeff Louder del del United HealthCare, quienes lucharon a brazo partido para evitar la cacería que finalmente se produjo a 8 kilómetros de la llegada por el trabajo del equipo Rabobank y también del Liquigas.

Finalmente, los de uniforme verde y azul (Liquigas), prepararon el terreno para su hombre clave en las llegadas y este respondió con solvencia, alzando brazos antes de cruzar la raya imponiéndose sobre Heinrich Haussler y el Colombo-norteamericano Fred Rodríguez, quien hace parte de este equipo con los también colombianos Carlos Álzate y Andrés Miguel Díaz.

Un grande del sprint como el belga Tom Boonen, estuvo eliminado de disputar la llegada por un pinchazo fatal en las calles de Santa Rosa y los hombres del Colombia-Coldeportes hicieron un comienzo aceptable logrando meter a Fabio Duarte y al nariñense Darwin Atapuma en la rigurosa selección que se hizo en el primer lance de la carrera. Otro corredor nacional que logró entrar en ese lote fue el vallecaucano Andres Miguel Díaz (Team Exergy).

Este lunes se corre la segunda etapa de la prueba californiana, sobre 188 kilómetros desde San Francisco hasta Santa Cruz County, con un final tortuoso  que incluye dos premios de montaña de apreciable dificultad, ubicados en el kilómetro 126 el primero (Empire Grade ) con 14 kms de extensión subiendo de 0 mts sobre el nivel del mar hasta 916 y luego el Bear Creek de 10 kilómetros y subiendo de 226 mts a 686 por espacio de 10 kilómetros hasta el kmt 158, para continuar en medio de columpios hasta el 170, descender 7 kms más y emprender una planicie de 11 kilómetros a línea de meta.
