Tour de California: Sylvain Georges se impone en Big Bear Lake. David Zabriskie sigue de líder. Fabio Duarte es puesto 16 en la general

El corredor Sylvain Georges (AG2R La Mondiale) ha conseguido dar el zarpazo en la primera de dos etapas montañosas que tiene este final emocionante del Tour de California donde los ‘Gallos’ del pelotón no se han mostrado los dientes, reservando todo para este sábado en la llegada en subida en el Monte Baldy.

El francés de 28 años, quien fue el Quijote de la jornada y único sobreviviente de una fuga de 7 corredores que empezó al inicio de la carrera, marcó un tiempo de 5:07:04 segundos para cubrir los 186,3 kilómetros entre Palmdale-Big Bear Lake.

En línea de meta y encabezando el grupo donde venía el único colombiano que no cedió tiempo el día de hoy (Fabio Duarte-Colombia-Coldeportes), entró el eslovaco Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale) a 28 segundos seguido por su compatriota Peter Velits (Omega Pharma-Quick Step).

En la general individual nada cambió respecto a los primeros puestos, el corredor local David Zabriskie (Garmin-Barracuda) domina la competencia con un tiempo de 25:37:05 segundos, seguido por Tejay Van Garderen (BMC Racing) a 34 segundos, mientras que el podio lo completa el holandés Robert Gesink (Rabobank Cycling Team) a 39.

Por el lado de los colombianos, Duarte (Colombia-Coldeportes), asciende ahora al puesto 16 a 2:01 segundo de Zabriskie, mientras que el nariñense Darwin Atapuma aparece dentro de los primeros 60 corredores a 5:16 segundos.

Este sábado se disputará la séptima etapa del Tour de California y última posibilidad de los escaladores para poder figurar en los primero puestos de la prueba norteamericana, con una etapa de 126 kilómetros que une a Ontario y el Monte Baldy.
