USA Pro Cycling Challengue: Rafael Infantino fue tercero en la crono y se metió al Top 10 general

Vails.Colorado. Como se esperaba, la etapa contrarreloj individual que se corrió en la hermosa estación invernal de Vails, se convirtió en un deleite para más de 150.000 aficionados de todas partes de USA y del mundo, que presenciaron un duelo formidable entre grandes ciclistas del mundo, llenos de títulos y prestigio como Cadel Evans, Andy y Frank Schleck, Levi Leipheimer, Iván Basso, David Zabriskie y Cristian Vandevelde, entre otros.

Entre ellos, sigue figurando con gran fuerza el ciclismo colombiano y en una especialidad que siempre le ha venido a sus condiciones, el joven antioqueño del EPM-UNE Rafael Infantino, volvió a brillar en las montañas rocosas del estado de Colorado, al ubicarse en un brillante tercer puesto a solo cinco segundos del gran vencedor Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack) y a cuatro del súper-especialista Cristian Vandevelde. El colombo-dominicano es ahora sexto en la general a 1:14 del lider Levi Leipheimer. 

Infantino, que había sido vencedor el martes del premio de montaña más difícil corrido hasta ahora, hizo una brillante exhibición también en la contrarreloj, modalidad en la cual ha sobresalido desde la categoría sub-23. Otro corredor de gran actuación, fue Juan Pablo Suárez del mismo equipo de Infantino ocupando el lugar 15 a 1.17 segundos del norteamericano.

La victoria y diferencias alcanzadas por Leipheimer le permitieron reconquistar la camiseta de líder pues su joven rival Tejai Van Garderen perdió  51 segundos con el más serio aspirante a la victoria final.
